In describing my practice, I'll start by saying that I work digitally. I have notes on my phone where I write down ideas. Then I choose the one that has not lost its relevance to me, often I work in series. Then I start searching for material on pinterest and other platforms, and then I start shaping the composition with collage. I have recently incorporated AI idea-seeking into the process — I like the unpredictability of the result.
The themes that attract me are stories about human experiences, often poignant ones. I like to give them to animals, birds and plants. I try to create a space that is entirely filled with this or that emotion, often without using people.
I work on a drawing long enough — it is a meditative process for me and so I feel invested in the work.
When the drawing is ready, I send it off to print. I print on fabric, not canvas, as the final touch from the drawing to the artwork is the embroidery. I complete the work with it, add textures and even more attention.
I love everything to do with textiles — I worked as a textile designer in a studio for 6 years and it influenced me a lot — I like to see the pattern on the clothes, because in the movement they create additional meanings. Last year I started my small brand — japan inspired clothes with my prints on them. The first collection was about how to stop the moment and slow down. I mainly used wild animals and jungle flora because they are deep and sincere and live in the moment.
